Adding a video

Choose Photos or Files in the library. Grant only the Photos access you need.

Playing directly from sharing

Settings → Play from sharing → Add “Play in pippi”. Then choose the shortcut in the lower part of a share sheet.

When a reference cannot be opened

Check whether the original moved or was deleted, Photos permissions and iCloud download availability. Select the video again if needed.

When Picture in Picture will not start

Wait for the video to load and confirm it plays before tapping Picture in Picture. Availability also depends on the video and iOS.

A few things to know

Can I use the share sheet?

Yes. The regular share extension adds a copy to pippi. To open the main app and play directly, add the ready-made “Play in pippi” shortcut from Settings once.

Does it change my original videos?

Videos selected inside pippi are references to your originals. Custom names apply only in pippi. Deleting a copied video removes that copy from pippi too.

Can it play every format?

Playback uses formats supported by iOS. A codec, DRM restriction or file provider may prevent playback.

Are the controls the same in Picture in Picture?

iOS manages the floating window. The app’s swipe gestures and two-stage skip settings do not apply inside it.

What does it cost?

All features are free. An optional coffee tip in Settings is a one-time in-app purchase you can repeat. It never renews automatically.
